New Creation Center is an accrediting center as recognized by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. Students who graduate through this program are allowed to enter Georgia colleges without the home school mandates; they are eligible for the Hope Scholarship upon graduation; and they have access to PSAT, National Honor Society, and other programs.

Accreditation could be viewed as an “insurance policy” in the event your child must re-enter the public or private school arena. Your child’s credits will be readily accepted by most high schools.

The responsibilities of the participating families are as follows:

1. To fill out a “Course of Study” form at the beginning of each school year showing the courses your child will be taking and curriculum to be used.
2. To turn in grades twice a year (1st semester and 2nd semester ) for all classes being taken at home or with a non-NCC tutor (NCC classes will be reported directly to the office). This grade must be a number grade.
3. To take two monitored tests, a mid term and a comprehensive final exam at the NCC center in each home-schooled subject. The tests are of your own making, the student returns the mid term to his parent to be graded, and then turns it in to the center for our files. The final exam in each subject must be both taken and graded at the NCC office. The parent must provide an answer sheet to the monitor for this purpose.
4. To turn in a copy of the attendance record sent to your county school board by the 10th of each month.
5. A transcript of high school level courses completed prior to entering the center must be submitted at time of registration into NCC.
6. All mentors not possessing college degrees must complete 8 hours of instruction in mentoring. This can be achieved in workshops at the GHEA convention.
7. Parents must sign a waiver stating that each subject taught at home consists of 150 clock hours for 1 full credit or 75 hours for a semester course.
8. Provide the test results of the standardized test given yearly.
9. Provide a copy of student’s social security card to assure proper course credit.

The responsibilities of the NCC accrediting program are as follows:

1. To maintain an accredited transcript on the student. This transcript, however, will be available only after the student has been in our program for a minimum of one year.
2. To provide testing times and an appropriate place for the monitored tests.
3. To provide counsel to the families on curriculum choices, student progress, and other particular needs of the home schooled high school student.
4. To issue completed transcripts to secondary or post secondary schools and/or military schools upon written request.
5. To submit the necessary documentation on each graduating student with an average grade of 3.0 or higher in order to instate him/her in the HOPE Scholarship program.
6. To provide PSAT tests in the junior year.
7. To provide standardized testing as required by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Academic Requirements:

A completed transcript is one in which the student has earned at least 22 units of credit for graduation. A unit represents two full semesters of study. These units will include:

higher math)

1 unit in health
4 units in English
3 units in history and/or social science (with one-half credit in
Government, and one-half credit in economics

PSAT

The PSAT measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills. The PSAT is the qualifying test that students must take in their junior year of high school to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded each year. Students may take this test in 9th or 10th grade for practice before taking it their 11th grade year. This test is given to accredited students each year in October.

Please note: Accreditation is not automatic with payment—FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN NON- ACCREDITATION OF YOUR STUDENT’S RECORDS.

Fees:

$300 per year with classes * $35.00 month
$400 per year without classes * $45.00 month
*If paid by August 1st

Students enrolling in the middle of their high school years must pay the above accreditation fees in retro for each high school year already completed. The only exception to this is when the student is transferring from another accredited school.
